This is a modern version of a samurai film, set in Lake Tahoe, but without the saving grace of having actual samurai or their code of honour.

The bad guys in this film - and there are a lot of them - are like that scene in Blazing Saddles when Harvey Korman as Hedley Lamarr puts out a call for all the cut-throats, killers and butchers in the Wild West. The camera pans along the line as they queue to register, and there are bikers, pirates, Mexican bandidos, Klan members and, of course, Nazi soldiers. Smokin' Aces has just as much incongruity in its clutch of killers, but nowhere near the sense of humour.
